You can deposit a wide variety of checks as long they are made payable to the account holder. For more information on the types of checks you can deposit, please see our Deposit Account Agreement.
Yes – there are limits to how much you can deposit using the mobile app.
If you’ve been a customer for 31 days or more, you can deposit up to $100,000 and 25 checks per day and up to $1,000,000 per month. If you’ve been with us for 30 days or fewer (welcome!), you can deposit up to $50,000 and 25 checks per day and up to $500,000 per month.
Need to deposit more? Mail it – checks deposited by mail are limit-free. Just sign it, write your Citizens account number and “For Deposit Only to Citizens” to the endorsement line, and send it to us at:

To mail a deposit:
1. Ensure the check is made payable to you from another U.S. financial institution (no foreign checks)
2. Endorse the back of the check with the following information

No. We cannot accept a cash deposit. Sending cash through the mail is inherently very risky. Please ensure all deposits are made via online transfer, check by mail or mobile deposit.
Easy. Just log in to the Citizens Access mobile app (available free in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), tap Move Money, then Deposit a Check. Follow the prompts to endorse your check and snap some photos and, just like that, your drama-free deposit is done.
You’ll need to follow the procedures outlined by your payroll or benefits provider to set up your direct deposit but they will need the following information:
You have two easy options:
1. Online transfer. Transfer money from a savings or checking account at another US financial institution. All you’ll need is a routing and account number.
2. Deposit a check. As long as it’s a check made payable to you from another U.S. financial institution, you can deposit it quickly and easily using the Citizens Access mobile app (available free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store). Just log in, tap Move Money, then Deposit a Check. Follow the prompts to endorse your check and take some photos and, **snaps fingers**, you’re all set.

What else should you know? You can only make a deposit to a CD when you open the account. We don’t accept cash deposits or wire transfers. And all deposits, regardless of how they’re made, are subject to verification, final payment and our Funds Availability policy.
